Past Projects
The Belmont Redwood Shores Sustainability Parent Group are avid proponents of reducing waste, reusing items, composting, and reycling:

Provide support to schools by collecting and sorting waste at mealtimes.
- Distribute fresh, excess food from the schools to local communities in need.
- Collect and ship multi-layer plastic/foil food and drink pouches to a third party vendor to be recycled.
- Collect plastic film to be recycled into decking materials.
- Lend reusable utensils and dishes for school functions, such as hot chocolate day, classroom parties, PTA meetings, etc.
- Purchase trash grabbers, reusable gloves, and reusable buckets for sorting and cleanup events.
- Support and guide students in school-based environmental clubs.
- Provide educational, hands-on activities, presentations and assemblies to classrooms, schools, and community-based groups.
- Educate others on how to reduce the amount of waste going to our landfills.
- Take tours of our local waste management facilities to better understand where our local compost, recyclables and trash go.
