The Belmont Redwood Shores Sustainability Parent Group does the following to improve the sustainability of our schools.
Advocate for the replacement of all gas appliances in the school district to be replaced with electric analogs, when the end of life of the current appliances occurs.
Advocate for the school to invest in infrastructure to transform excess food waste into energy by looking at encouraging the continuation of a methane recovery pilot project at the Silicon VAlley Clean Water plant, where separated food waste from the compost bins would be fed into a biodigestor that then turns a microturbine to generate electricity.
